Sixteen members of the Next Generation Tatara Project visited the University of Oxford and took part in a four-day workshop from the 16th to 19th of September hosted by Professor Roger Reed, Director of the Tatara Centre.
The workshop was held at St. Anne’s College, giving the participants a great opportunity to learn about the world’s best University and its management policy, and also about its advanced efforts to build academia-industry collaboration with spinout companies as well as its partner companies. The University of Oxford makes various efforts to connect innovations to society, which sets the university apart from the other universities in the world. The mindset one of the speakers emphasized was particularly impressive, that said ‘you don’t know what will meet the social needs, so it is important to have curiosity and a sense of exploration at any time.’
In other workshop sessions, researchers and professors from Shimane presented progress report and future plans on Aircraft Project and Motor Project, and received Professor Reed’s praise for their collaborating work.
The attendees also had a discussion at the workshop on our new ‘Next Generation Tatara Co-creation Centre’ building that will be constructed at Shimane University in 2020. We cannot wait to see the building become the centre of open innovations!
All the participants from Shimane were greatly inspired by the workshop at the University of Oxford, and the inspiration will surely bring us the power to make the centre ‘world-class’.
The next session is planned to be held in December, 2019 with Professor Reed at Shimane University.
