On Monday, 30 September 2024, we organized the 18th NEXTA Forum as a “report session of the study abroad at the University of Oxford” by the 2 students who went to the UK for 1 week this summer. The event was brought both online and on-site, and many people from the companies in and outside the prefecture including school and University-related people attended.

The 2 students had been chosen through screening and awarded an opportunity to study abroad. 
While they were in the U.K., their main activity was to research the given theme and give a presentation at the end of their stay. The students conducted some experiments, under the guidance of professors and researchers such as Professor Graham McCartney at the University of Oxford, and summarized the research results into a presentation.. The students also had some opportunities to visit the University of Cambridge and related companies as well as its facilities.

During the event, each student explained such as their research theme, presentation at the end of their stay, what they have learned, and what they can apply in the future.There were many questions during a questions and answers session. To answer one of those questions, the students said “Even my English wasn’t perfect, the other person tried to understand what I was saying. I think it’s important to speak up and trust the person you are speaking to.”, “My sense of scale has been expanded after study abroad. I would like to broaden my horizon even more.”

After the event, one of the participants reviewed saying “I felt their willingness to apply what they have gained through their experience of communicating in English at cutting-edge institutions to the way of living and their research”.
