On Tuesday 12 December and Friday 22 December, the 14th and 15th NEXTA Forum were held. It was a series of 2 seminars and the theme of the lectures was “Learn about fracture phenomenon in manufacturing”.
The first part held as the 14th NEXTA Forum on Tuesday 12 December was brought by Professor Yoshinori Yoshida, from Next Generation Tatara Co-Creation Centre. The theme of Prof. Yoshida’s lecture was “Fracture phenomenon in processing – how to avoid or leverage fracture phenomenon-“. Prof. Yoshida explained closely the technology to prevent fracture from a macro point of view, as well as the latest technologies in shearing and cutting which leverages fractures. He also gave examples of prediction techniques and inverse analysis in simulations.
Also, the second part which was held as the 15th NEXTA Forum on Friday 22 December was brought by Professor Youji Mine, from Kumamoto University. The lecture's theme was “Materials’ fractures in multi scales”, and he explained fracture resistance and micro mechanism of fracture from a micro point of view. He also introduced some of the recent research which uses micromechanical testing.
On both dates, the seminar was brought online and on-site, and many people from the companies in and outside of the prefecture as well as the research-related people participated in the seminars.
After the seminars, some of the participants reviewed “ It helped me understand the latest analysis method for mismatching in manufacturing that I had experienced before.”, “It provided a basic understanding of fracture toughness.”
We will inform the dates for the upcoming NEXTA Forums on the website.
