On Thursday the 5 of October 2023, we organized a special laboratory tour at the Next Generation Tatara Co-creation Centre research building as the 12th NEXTA forum. Although it was limited to on-site, there were many participants such as people from the companies in Shimane or other prefectures and administrative-related people.
The NEXTA research building has been completed and started to be used in the spring of 2021. Many unique equipment have been installed since then including the Magnetic field-free transmission electron microscope. This was the first opportunity for the visitors to see those facilities, especially when it is actively in use.
At the beginning, Vice-director Arakawa gave short instructions about the overview of the NEXTA as well as its equipment. Then, the participants were divided into several groups and had a tour of the facilities and equipment in the building.
During the tour, the researchers gave instructions about equipment while they operated them.
The participants were asking questions and exchanging opinions with the researchers.
After the event, the participants reviewed, “Hearing specific instructions about the measuring equipment helped me understand the research going on at NEXTA. “, “ It was impressive to see the metal materials in Nano-scale, even a little bit. “
The NEXTA forum is an activity to promote communication between NEXTA and the companies in Shimane prefecture regularly. It is aimed at creating innovation through joint research, or accepting working adults to the Doctor course (Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology), training them to be hard-core technical human resources, and developing a new collaboration.
