Through 5 days from the 5th to the 8th of September, an intensive course to learn about high-temperature materials in English “Introduction to high-temperature materials” has been held. The course is designed as part of the Human Resource Development Project in the ‘Creation of a Global Base for Advanced Metals-Next Generation TATARA Project-‘, aiming to develop global human resources who can present and share research results at an international level, through learning basic reading and writing English skills related to Materials Science.

The course was brought by professors specialized in heat resistance metal materials, including Professor Roger Reed of the University of Oxford who is also the director of the Next Generation Tatara Co-Creation Centre(NEXTA), as well as Professor Graham McCartney who is also from the University of Oxford. The course was brought both online and through video lectures, including exercises and a question and answer section via Zoom.

On the 8th of September, the last day of the intensive course, the students who attended the lecture had an opportunity to ask questions and discuss with the professors online. The students were asking questions actively, and Professor McCartney was answering them giving clear and detailed explanations one by one.
At the end of the lecture, Professor McCartney sent a message to the students saying“ Thank you to those of you who asked questions in English again this time. I hope you learned a lot from the course and was valuable to you all.”

The lectures by the professors of the University of Oxford are planned for the fall semester as well.
