On the 25th of May 2022, we had a seminar at the Next Generation Tatara Co-creation Centre research building as the 7th NEXTA forum. The seminar was brought both online and on-site. There were more than 70 participants such as people from local companies or education-related people including junior and senior high school students.

  The theme was “Introduction of researches of NEXTA’s professors Part.1”, and 3 professors explained their research themes and how they could be implemented into society. The presenters and the content of the presentations are as follows;

Professor Kazuto ARAKAWA “Observe inside of the metal materials in atomic-Nano levels: Transmission electron microscope”
Professor Junji SHINJO “Embracing digital simulation in manufacturing”
Assistant Professor Hideki WAKABAYASHI “Manufacturability and Evaluation of characteristics of heat-resistant alloys”

  After the seminar, the participants reviewed saying, “I didn't know about the characteristics of metal materials or digital simulation, so I learned a lot.” Or “It was good because I got to know not only about the metal materials but also about their research and passion for it.” Also, one of the participants who work at a local high school reviewed, “The students were trying to find the atomic symbols mentioned during the presentations on the periodic table, and when there were some technical terms during the presentations, they were talking to each other saying that they know or they don’t know it. They looked excited and motivated to study at the University.”

  The NEXTA forum is an activity to promote communication between NEXTA and the companies in Shimane prefecture on a regular basis. It is aimed at creating innovation through joint researches, or accepting working adults to the Doctor course (Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology) and training them up to be hard-core technical human resources, and to develop to be a new collaboration.

For the 8th NEXTA Forum, we are planning to have “Introduction of researches of NEXTA’s Professors Part.2”. We will inform you once the date is fixed.
