公開日 2020.07.15

The intensive course, ‘Introduction to high-temperature materials’ was launched this year and held online from the 6th to the 10th of July at Shimane University. The course is designed as part of the Human Resource Development Project in the ‘Creation of a Global Base for Advanced Metals-Next Generation TATARA Project-‘, aiming to develop global human resources who are able to present and share research results on the international stage, through learning basic English reading and writing skills related to Materials Science.
The collaborating members on the project, Professor Roger Reed of University of Oxford and Director of the Next Generation Tatara Co-Creation Centre (NEXTA), Professor Graham McCartney, Dr. Fauzan Adziman (Vice Director of NEXTA), Dr. Chinnapat Panwisawas (University of Leicester), Dr. Yilun Gong, and Dr. Tony Tang successfully made a series of video lectures and provided online classes for questions and answers, as they were not able to visit Shimane this time due to the world-wide spread of the novel coronavirus infections.
More than 20 undergraduate and graduate students participated in the online session on 7 July and asked questions to the professors in the UK. Professor Reed remarks, “The course is quite challenging, but it is worth the challenge for the future cooperation in the Tatara Project”. One of the students comments that it is exciting to learn directly from the world authority. The course is planned to be held next year and beyond.
